Bonjour!
I'd like to start this blog off by pointing out that the title is not exactly accurate. You see we're not really in Paris at the moment. Don't leave just yet though. We will get to Paris eventually! It's just going to take some time, a few french lessons and probably a lot of stress-induced posts about how bad an idea this is.
My name is Claire but you can call me Dotty, everyone does. Well they don't really but I'd like them to. This blog will be written by myself and my boyfriend/best friend/life partner Damian, nickname Ichi (He's a manga/japanese geek)
So let's get started and what a perfect day to do so because I got an email today telling me that I have received an interview for Disneyland Paris!!
But we'll get to that in a short while. First I want to talk about the actual application to Disney.
It seems like so long ago but in fact it was only around 2 months ago when Damian and I first started researching how to live and work in Paris for 3 months and to be perfectly honest we didn't find much.
We decided Disney was our best bet because neither of us have a great knowlege of french and this would be a good way to learn the language and work at the same time. We found the Disney Casting Website and I filled out my application first. It was just a general application for a recruitment session in London meaning I could get any job such as waitress/hostess in one of the hotels, ODF(which stands for Outdoor Food basically selling popcorn, drinks, ice cream etc), Shop Worker or Waitress in food place. These are the ones I know of so far but there are probably a lot more I could get.
Apparently there are 3 places of accomodation for international crew members: La Louisiane, Le Pleiades and La Boiserie. The Accomodation is roughly 270 euros a month and you get paid roughly 750 a month after taxes and accomodation come off your wages. Or so I've heard. Your travel expenses for getting to Paris get reimbursed to a certain extent so that's pretty good.
All in all I'm very excited and if I save up now and make money while working there I should hopefully end up with some money left by the end of this aventure!
Damian and I would love to live in Paris when we finish college so for now summer vacations working in Paris are our best option to get adapated to the language and culture.
I'm sorry if this post seems rather rambly but I'm trying to fit in as much information as I can while I remember it and hopefully this will be useful for any fellow english speakers wishing to spend a summer in Disney.
So, as I said, I received an email today from the Disney Casting Office in London asking me to come for an interview. For anyone who is interested here is the actual email.

So as you can see this is the last recruitment day for this season. Damian applied a week after me so hopefully he should hear back soon and we will both be going on the same day. It's in London and that's probably going to make a rather large dent in my pocket but it will be worth it if I get a job in Disney!
I am going to stop here while I am ahead but before I go here are a few links where I did find useful information about working in Disney:
